Yes, indeed, only a few bright stars can be seen from Lobnya (Moscow as a big spotlight and the airport with all its lights are located nearby). It's not very dark near Zvenigorod (where this observatory is located), but they mostly deal with bright objects, so they have enough of this darkness. In general, to really see a lot of stars, we need to go outside the Moscow region.
